For this Color Expo poster, I drew inspiration from Swiss Design, known for its clean layouts and easy-to-read typography. I used Helvetica for its versatility and organized the text with precise margins for balance and clarity. The event details are grouped together, while the summary stands out for easy navigation. I chose cyan, magenta, and yellow for the color palette, layering them with blend modes to create depth and movement. A light neutral background enhances contrast, keeping the text as the focal point.
Sketches
During the sketching phase, I explored various layout options and experimented with different placements for the event title to establish a clear visual hierarchy. I also tested different color combinations with cyan, magenta, and yellow to determine the most effective order for best legibility. My focus was on achieving balance and readability while maintaining the clean, structured feel inspired by Swiss Design.
Iterations
In the iteration phase, I experimented with other dual color combinations and layout adjustments but found they lacked the dynamic energy I wanted. This led me to layer cyan, magenta, and yellow with blend modes, creating more depth and movement to better capture the event’s vibrant atmosphere.
Final
In the final design, layering cyan, magenta, and yellow successfully added vibrant movement and visual interest to the poster. The clean layout and intentional use of white space prevent the design from feeling overcrowded, aligning perfectly with the principles of Swiss Design.
